Description
Democracy for the Arab World Now (DAWN) is seeking a highly motivated applicant for the position of Arabic Media Intern to help develop our Arabic media presence.
DAWN will provide Intern with a positive learning experience and substantive learning assignments. Intern will have a chance to hone writing and communication skills in a dynamic work environment. The position reports to the Arabic Media Manager. Intern can work at DAWN's shared workspace in Washington DC, or remotely from another location.
Responsibilities
Assist in managing DAWN's Arabic-language website.
Assist in research on Arabic media matters and reaching out to contacts in Arabic media outlets.
Help manage and grow DAWN's Arabic-language Twitter handle and Facebook, Instagram, and Telegram accounts for distribution of DAWN's Arabic language content.
Intern may also be assigned administrative tasks in addition to substantive work.
Such other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
Fluency in English and Arabic.
Experience vetting Arabic translations of English content.
An active social media user, and adept at working with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram in Arabic.
Familiarity with Middle East and North Africa (MENA) policy issues.
Commitment to DAWN's mission — the protection of human rights and promotion of democracy in the MENA region.
Commitment to working with staff and partners in a positive, collaborative, diverse, and inclusive work environment is required.
