In response to Iranian missile and drone strikes targeting U.S. bases across the Middle East in retaliation for President Trump's airstrikes on Iran, DAWN issued the following statement.
"Trump's reckless, unauthorized war on Iran has invited well-expected Iranian retaliation on U.S. bases in the Middle East and caused widespread havoc and panic," said Sarah Leah Whitson, DAWN's Executive Director. "The Trump administration should stop this war before it spirals out of control and should also urgently demand a ceasefire in Gaza, where Israel's slaughter continues unabated."
"President Trump should resist Israeli efforts to expand this war any further and uphold his promise to keep our country out of new wars," said Raed Jarrar, DAWN's Advocacy Director. "Rather than embarking on another endless, catastrophic, and costly war, the United States should withdraw its troops from the Middle East and immediately stop shipping more weapons to Israel."
