Michele Alexander

Board Member

Michele Alexander is a long-standing nonprofit executive with more than 25 years of executive management experience in human rights organizations and expertise in fundraising, constituent relations and board relations.

She most recently served as Deputy Executive Director for Development and Global Initiatives  at Human Rights Watch, where she worked closely with other staff and board members to build the group into an  organization with a $100 million budget and 550 staff in 40 countries. Previously, Michele served as vice president for corporate support at CARE USA, where she also conducted development and program missions in Haiti, Pakistan, and Ecuador.

Michele is a graduate from Brooklyn Law School and a volunteer member of a number of non-profit organizations and regularly provides pro bono fundraising counsel. She is a founding member of the Democratic Club of Hemstad Harbor, an executive member to the Coalition to Save Hempstead Harbor, a regular volunteer to a local food bank. She previously sat on the board of the North Shore Public Schools Foundation.
