(Washington, D.C., June 12, 2025) — In response to the Israeli military strikes against Iran, DAWN issues the following statements:
"Israel has committed an unlawful, unprovoked attack on Iran to undermine the growing global efforts to sanction it for its illegal occupation and to disrupt Trump's efforts to independently pursue America's interests via diplomacy.," said Sarah Leah Whitson, DAWN's executive director. "The international community should urgently act now to curb Israel's relentless belligerence with a full arms embargo and coordinated sanctions."
"The United States should completely decouple its interests from Israel's reckless war-making and refuse any support, material or political, for these attacks on Iran," said Raed Jarrar, DAWN's advocacy director. "We are now seeing Israel unlawfully bombarding Iranian neighborhoods allegedly housing Iranian officials with the same maliciousness it has bombed Lebanon and Gaza."
"Israel deciding to launch a war against Iran at the very same time it faces unprecedented international isolation and pressure over its genocide in Gaza, is a nightmarish outcome of impunity," said Michael Schaeffer Omer-Man, DAWN's Israel-Palestine director.
